Noel Robbins is a Practicing Professional Painter
A good art teacher should have education and expertise in the field of art,
and be skilled at making that special experience available to others.
At Noel Robbins Studio all art classes in painting and drawing are taught
by Noel Robbins, who holds a bachelors degree in fine arts from the
University of Texas at Austin and a masters degree in painting and drawing
from the world famous School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Noel has taught as a college professor for over fifteen years
as well as adult art classes in painting and drawing at art centers
and museum schools in both Chicago and Austin.
Noel spends most of his studio time painting realistic depictions of natural
and man-made environments, people, flowers and other odd subjects.
His particular approach is to paint in such a way as to present his subjects
plainly and clearly, so that the viewer experiences the people, places and
things in Noel's paintings without noticing the painting right away.
In other words, Noel makes paintings that emphasize the viewer's experience
of the magical illusion of light, atmosphere, form and space
as opposed to the processes and gestures of the artist.
Noel's abstract work is simply a personal, playful rest
from the difficulties that his realist paintings demand.
